Rugley Railway Bridge

Alnwick Cornhill” indicates that this was also known as the “Cornhill Branch”, was a North Eastern Railway line. Authorised by Parliament in 1882, construction started in 1884, and it opened in 1887. The road is present in the 1864 OS 6 inch map, and the bridge clearly present in the 1896 25 inch map, so the bridge was surely built with the railway in the mid 1880s.
