MARKET PLACE 1. 5330 (West Side) The Co-op NU 1813 SE 1/298 II GV 2. Includes No 8 Fenkle Street. Late C18. Three storeys and 2 windows. Plain ashlar, steep pitched slate roof with coped verges and 1 brick chimney. Glazing bar sash windows, single-hung on 2nd floor. Three light shop front on ground floor with door to left.
Detailed plans for the Alnwick Branch of Amble Cooperative Society were drawn up in 1906 by the CWS architect in Newcastle.
Tenders put the build cost at £2648-6-9d.
On the ground floor there was a Butchers (left) a Grocery and Provision store (Right) and a Drapers (centre). Above the shops were a flat, store room and offices.
