MARKET STREET 1. 5330 (South Side) No 37 NU 1813 SE 1/311 II GV 2. Early C19 front slightly set back between Nos 85 and 39. Three storeys and 2 windows. Painted ashlar with moulded carves cornice. Slate roof with 2 chimneys with ashlar bases to right. Glazing bar sash windows, not regularly spaced to right, a casement window on 1st floor to left. Projecting, completely modernized ground floor for Chinese Restaurant; above is a balcony with cast iron railings. Flush panel door to throughpassage at left. Three storey rendered extension to rear with 3 window on 2nd floor and 4 on 1st floor. Two storey outbuilding at back (part of No 4 St Michael's Lane) With half a segmental archway.

Now Sportsworld, this once housed  a printing and stationery shop owned by John Davison. After working for Mr. Pike, he went on to establish his own business in 1855 and moved here around 1870. (not to be confused with William Davison)

In the 1960s this was the Green Bamboo Chinese restaurant run by Mr Yip.
