West Acres originally developed c. 1870 for Mr Henry Purvis (grocer). Inherited by Charles E Purvis who died in 1931. Replaced by private estate 1937.
18 Bondgate Within was the site of H.T. Purvis and Son. The corner at the junction of Bondgate Within and Market Street was known as Purvis Corner.
