Tate: Paike's street, a short narrow street, leads from the market to Bondgate. In the court rolls it is called Peikes Hole in 1645, and Paikes Hoole in 1683 and 1709, hohl in German being a narrow pass or gorge, Pye's or Hunter's Lane in 1770, and subsequently.
