A Prolific Vegetable. Mr. John Macfarlane, Narrowgate, Alnwick, has had on exhibition a vegetable marrow weighing 19lbs, loz. This marrow was grown by Mr. James Wright, an allottee at Alnwick Railway Station Cottages, and from the plant, which was supplied by Mr. Macfarlane, he has obtained ten marrows weighing a little over 142Ilbs, an average of 14lbs. each. The weights of the various marrows are as follows:—9lbs., 14lbs., 12lbs., 12Ibs., 10lbs., 16lbs., 16lbs., 16lbs., 184lbs., and 19lbs.—total, 142lbs., 90z., which is a very unusual crop frem one plant.
