Built 1852-3 by Thomas Robertson of Alnwick, on land known as “Barndale Ridge”. ??

29 May 1880: Death of. Captain Qandy.—We regret to announce the death of Captain Gandy, late of the King's Dragoon Guards, whioh took place at Barndale House, Alnwick, ou 'Tuesday last. The deceased captain, who was only his fourtieth year, took a great interest in the affairs of the ducal town, by the inhabitants of which he will be greatly missed. He was enthusiast in the ancient game of . golf, and besides being treasurer for the Almouth Club, he was also a member of the Glub. His death will be greatly deplored the members of each, he was ever foremost in promoting the success of the game in district where until recently it was scarcely known.

Friday 08 October 1943: ALNWICK SITE. The question of the purchase Barndale House and site at Alnwick, the property of. the Alnwick Estates Company, with a view to the provision playing field accomodation for the children attending the Alnwick C. E. School and Alnwick Council School and the meeting possible future requirements for nursery school facilities in the area, was considered at last Thursday's meeting of the County Education Committee. was decided that subject to the approval of the Board of Education, the district valuer be asked to negotiate for an option to purchase th« site in the termination, of the wax.

Purchased by county in 1950 for use as Nursery School. Now a special school.
