This is the site of the ancient Tower which formed the entrance to this part of the Town when it was enclosed by a Wall [the] structure was taken down about the beginning of the present centuary at which time four Stones were put down one at each of the angles and marked with the letter T in order to preserve the exact site of this ancient edifice two of these stones were removed during the drainage of the Town but are to be restored again to their original site in the course of a short time the two which still remain are shewn on the Plan
