CLAYPORT STREET 1. 5330 (North-West Side) Grosvenor Terrace (Nos 3, 4 and 5) NU 1813 SW 4/219 II GV 2. Early C19. Two storeys, No 3 has 2 windows. Nos 4 and 5 three windows. Rendered fronts with slate roofs, 4 chimneys and coped gable to east. Late glazed sash windows, No 3 modern casements. Central doorways with pointed bracketed hoods, 6 panel doors, upper parts glazed. Rainwater pipe heads marked "T.H. 1834".

Attached Blue Plaque reads "Sir George Biddell Airy, FRS scientist and Astronomer Royal 1801-1892 born and lived on this site 1801-1805". He was born at Alnwick in Northumberland on 27 July 1801. His father, William Airy of Luddington in Lincolnshire, was then collector of excise in Northumberland, whence he was transferred to Hereford in 1802.
